ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON CHURCH

Three Bridges, New Jersey (Diocese of Metuchen)

Description

The 37,000 sq.ft. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Complex was designed and constructed in three phases between 1989 and 2007. As the architect for all three phases a continuity of design was developed and the full program was completed as membership grew and funds became available.

Phase I & II includes Worship Space that seats 450, Narthex, Daily Chapel, offices, & meeting rooms. The church interior is an interplay of painted forms and wall surfaces washed in natural light, with contrasting painted and dark stained woodwork throughout. Phase III (shown here) includes a formal lobby, social hall, commercial kitchen, and 14 religious education classrooms. The building’s major spaces are broken into distinct forms that integrate perfectly with the Church.
